Luke Carmody started working at Olsen’s Corner when he was 15-years-old, helping with maintenance and cleaning on Saturday mornings. When he finished school, he progressed to night fill and the cash registers. Today, he manages the store and oversees a team of 55 employees.

"I’ve literally done every job in the shop at one time or another, which makes it a lot easier to relate to our staff and help train them. I’ve been in their shoes," Luke said.

“We like to collaborate with our staff and customers about the products we sell. It doesn’t matter whether they are juniors who work a few hours a week or it’s one our highly experienced team members - sometimes it’s our staff who have the best ideas. Bundy has so many good products and produce, and we’re really proud to showcase that.”

Luke said Olsen’s Corner staff enjoyed what they do. 

“We have a lot of fun. Some of our staff have been here for 30-years because we all get along and we get a kick out of making our customers happy. It’s almost like a second family. In fact, I met my wife in the deli here.”

He said owners Jane and Karl Brosnan supported staff to achieve their personal career goals and aspirations, including training and education.

“There is an opportunity for career progression and to develop new skills. We attend food shows and trade events,” Luke said.
